How it's calculated
Tax is worked out on your yearly taxable salary, one slab at a time. Each rate applies only to the part of your income inside that slab. For 2026-27 (1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027), yearly income up to Rs 600,000 (Rs 50,000 a month) is tax-free. Examples for 2026-27: Rs 100,000 a month is Rs 1,200,000 a year. Tax = 1% of Rs 600,000 = Rs 6,000 a year, or Rs 500 a month. Take-home salary: Rs 99,500. Rs 150,000 a month is Rs 1,800,000 a year. Tax = Rs 6,000 + 11% of Rs 600,000 = Rs 72,000 a year, or Rs 6,000 a month. Take-home salary: Rs 144,000. Rs 200,000 a month is Rs 2,400,000 a year. Tax = Rs 116,000 + 20% of Rs 200,000 = Rs 156,000 a year, or Rs 13,000 a month. Take-home salary: Rs 187,000. Taxable salary is your basic pay plus most allowances, minus amounts the law exempts. Bonuses and arrears are usually taxed too. Your employer deducts this tax from your salary every month.

Frequently asked questions
How is salary tax calculated in Pakistan?
Tax is worked out on your yearly taxable salary, slab by slab. Each rate applies only to the part of your income inside that slab. For 2026-27: nothing up to Rs 600,000; 1% from Rs 600,000 to 1,200,000; 11% to 2,200,000; 20% to 3,200,000; 25% to 4,100,000; 29% to 5,600,000; 32% to 7,000,000; and 35% above that.
Up to what salary is there no income tax in 2026-27?

What is the surcharge on high salaries?
In 2024-25 a 10% surcharge and in 2025-26 a 9% surcharge applied to the tax of people earning above Rs 10 million a year. The 2026-27 slabs have no surcharge. The calculator adds it automatically when you pick an older year.
Does this calculator include allowances, bonuses and tax credits?
No. It taxes the amount you enter as regular taxable salary. Exempt allowances, bonuses taxed separately, arrears and tax credits (for example on donations or pension contributions) can change the tax on your payslip. Enter your taxable salary after removing exempt items.
Is this calculator free and private?
Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up, and all calculations run in your browser, so the salary you enter is not sent to our server.
How accurate is the result?
It follows the published slabs for salaried individuals, but results are estimates for information only, not tax advice. For your exact deduction, check your payslip, FBR (fbr.gov.pk) or a tax adviser.
